I’m a big fan of light dimmers. They help save energy and add warm light to a room. But, there are many different types and styles. There are also many more types of light bulbs than ever before!
Walk down the light bulb aisle at Home Depot and see for yourself. But, you can’t use ALL dimmers with ALL light bulbs. Some dimmers are only for use with incandescent lights while others can be used for incandescent, Dimmable CFL’s (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) and Dimmable LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs.
You need to also be aware that not ALL CFL’s or LED’s are dimmable.
So when deciding if you want to be able to dim a light, first buy a bulb that states it is dimmable! Then buy the corresponding dimmer switch ensuring it will dim what ever type of bulb you purchased.
If you’re in doubt, feel free to call or email me.
